Local Shops

Pottery in La Bisbal

The road out of La Bisbal towards Girona is lined with pottery shops selling everything from mass-produced factory pieces to innovative local designs. Among the best buys are simple earthenware cooking pots, which are both good quality and excellent value. It pays to shop around but you are not expected to haggle. Most of these shops are open on Saturday and Sunday evenings too.

Bambu Bambu, Avelli and Bosch are some of the many lining the main street Carrer L’Aigueta.

Shopping in Girona

The streets between the Rambla and the Jewish quarter are full of small, arty boutiques, specialising in everything from ceramics to candles and religious sculpture to Carnival masks. Definitely worth a wander through the old town streets browsing. And the ice cream shops are well worth a look too…

Local supermarkets

There are lots of supermarkets in Cassa de la Selva, our nearest town, but our favourite is Caprabo. It’s about 10 minutes from Can Lledo. They have everything from fresh baked bread to a fish mongers. Turn off the main high street, it is signposted clearly. Open 9.30am-9.30pm. Closed Sundays.

There are also a couple of supermarkets in the other direction outside Bisbal D’Emporda on the mini roundabout before you enter the town.

Banks and Exchange

The Currency on the Costa Brava is the Euro. Banks are slow but the best place to change money with lower commissions than anywhere else. Normal banking hours are Mon-Sat 9am-2pm, except between June and September when they close on Saturdays. ATM’s are widely available in larger towns. The nearest bank is in Cassa de la Selva.
